1-Week Sweater Challenge: 7 Unique Outfits That Worked
I created outfits that I was comfortable and confident in for over 7 days using only 1 sweater.
The One Sweater You Need In Your Wardrobe
Welcome to my blog series that starts with my 1-Week Sweater Challenge. Wearing the same sweater 7 days in a row might seem like a crazy idea, but with a sweater as good as this one, it was easy to incorporate it into my everyday life.
Follow along for outfit inspiration for work and play. I’ll explain and show how you can wear one sweater in many ways and on many occasions.
The 1-Week Sweater Challenge was a great way to try having a minimal wardrobe and being more sustainable. I learned that having less in your closet doesn’t mean your outfit choices are limited.
Quality over quantity should apply so that you have pieces that last and won’t end up in landfills worldwide.

When I saw the tube-shaped package on my porch, I knew my Oliver Charles sweater had arrived.
It is a unique way to package a product and makes the parcel stand out amongst all the other square/rectangle Amazon packages that usually arrive.
I was so excited to do my unboxing so that I could feel and wear my new sweater. The packaging is extremely high quality and durable, giving me hope that the sweater would be the same.
Once I got the sweater out of the package, I was not disappointed. I loved the color, which is heathered brown in appearance, and it’s incredibly soft and well made.
I had a busy week because both of my sisters would be in town, so I was excited to style it for all the planned activities.
Best Lightweight Sweater For Travel
Today was exciting because my sister was coming home from Alaska for the week.
I hadn’t seen her in a long time, and I went to the airport in the morning pick her up. The airport is about an hour from our house, so my outfit needed to be comfortable enough to sit that long in the car.
I paired my sweater with jeans shorts and cloud foam slides.
My dad likes to keep the car the same temperature as the arctic circle, so I’m glad I had my Oliver Charles sweater on.
This was a basic outfit, but it was perfect for the day we had planned. As always, when ordering something online, you’re not sure how it will fit.
I loved the sweater's fit because it wasn’t tight or clinging to my body. There was just enough extra fabric to blouse over once I tucked the sweater into my shorts.
Everyday Sweater: How I Wear Mine With Jeans
It was national donut day!
I don’t even eat donuts that often, but how can anyone resist when they are free?! I put on a cute outfit and went with my sister on a drive to Krispy Kreme.
This day I wore jeans that had a lot of fraying around the hem, my Oliver Charles sweater, and some black platform sandals.
I wanted to spice up my outfit today, so I tied it up at my waist instead of just tucking my sweater into my jeans.
Not to mention I had the best/most delicious accessory with the donut! I really liked this outfit, and it’s an outfit that I would wear again.
I like that the jeans add a fun element to an outfit that might otherwise be too casual. I wore my hair in a bun with a yellow hair scarf to add a pop of color.
A Simple Wardrobe With Accessories
Today was relaxing; I ran a few errands because I had returns to make.
The day consisted of shopping with my youngest sister, so I wore a very casual outfit.
It was a little warmer, so wearing shorts was a good plan; I also tucked up the sleeves to make them shorter, which added some texture.
I added a layered gold necklace with this outfit, and I really liked how the gold complimented the browns in the sweater.
Later in the evening, my sister and I went to Menchies, a frozen yogurt place in town after dinner.
The evening air was cooling down, and my Oliver Charles sweater was perfect layered with some black denim shorts and black platform sandals.
I decided to wear black jean shorts because I paired the sweater with lighter denim washes the first two days.
The frozen yogurt was delicious, and the outfit was perfect for the occasion.
Outfit Repeaters: Fewer Clothes In Many Styles
It was such a nice day out today, so my sister and I decided to picnic in the park.
We got some food from Crazy Bowls and Wraps, and I brought a blanket and my picnic basket.
At the start of the picnic, it was breezy and overcast, but towards the end, it was getting really warm, and we knew it was time to go.
I wore my Oliver Charles sweater in a variety of ways during this picnic; it is nice that it has such versatility when it comes to styling.
To start, I draped the sweater over my shoulders so I wouldn’t get any food on it; little messes happen to the best of us.
Next, I tied it around my waist, which I thought was super cute because it broke up my outfit and added a new texture.
While it was still breezy, I put the sweater on over my white tee, pushed up the sleeves, and tucked it into my shorts.
I kept the accessories pretty simple with this outfit; I wore a silver necklace, a daisy ankle bracelet, and sunglasses in my hair instead of a headband.
I made three different outfits for this one picnic, but each one had a purpose and was super cute.
3D-Knitting Gives This Sweater Extra Mobility
Today was a pretty gloomy day, but I had to prepare for a day full of thrift shopping with my mom, two sisters, and grandma.
The Oliver Charles sweater was perfect and comfortable for the day. Our favorite activity when we are all together is to get lunch, usually Chinese, and then go to the Goodwill Outlet.
I tucked my sweater up to show some of my abdomen and cuffed the sleeves.
Today, I paired the sweater with skinny jeans that had some fraying at the hem, a trend I love for spring and summer, and my tan cloud foam slides once again.
It was a great outfit to wear to the outlet because it was easy to move in, and I was able to reach and dig through items comfortably.
The sweater was also perfect for lunch because it was chilly in the restaurant and kept me nice and warm.
Smart Casual Sweater For When I Go Out
It was one of my sister's last days in town, and she wanted to go to Sushi AI for all-you-can-eat sushi.
This is a more upscale place, so I wanted my outfit to reflect that.
I decided to wear a dress with a floral pattern and then tied up my sweater over the top of it.
I paired my outfit with high ankle socks and Nike Air Force Ones.
It was a comfortable outfit to walk around in and to sit in a restaurant for an extended time.
Tying the sweater at my waist gave me some shape and made it look like I was wearing a shirt and skirt instead of a dress underneath.
After lunch, we decided to walk around the main street, which consisted of a bunch of little shops by the river.
This outfit matched the vibe of the little town and was extremely comfortable for all the walking.
Personal Uniform Built On 1 Versatile Sweater
The week has ended; it was a quick week, and today was more of a chill day since the rest of the week was action-packed.
Today I started by taking my sister to the airport so she could go back to Alaska. On the drive, I kept my outfit comfortable once again.
I also wanted something I could wear all day while going for a walk and cleaning the house.
I bought this athletic unitard and never knew how to style it, but this sweater matched the olive green perfectly.
I also wore high white socks and sneakers like yesterday; I think it’s the perfect casual outfit footwear.
The sweater looks great tied diagonally around my upper body and also worn as a pullover with this jumpsuit.
This was a very comfortable outfit, and I’m glad I decided to pull it out of my closet and pair it with my Oliver Charles sweater.
1-Week Challenge: Final Thoughts After 7 Days
When I first decided to take the 1-Week Sweater Challenge with Oliver Charles, I was unsure if I would be able to create 7 unique outfits that worked with what I did each day.
Since the sweater is such a basic staple item to have in your wardrobe it is easy to use unique clothing and accessories to elevate the sweater.
I found myself pairing it with fun jeans, dresses with patterns, and jewelry to spice up the sweater.
I’m really happy with how my outfits turned out, and I would recommend the sweater to all my close friends and family.
It is a great sweater to add to their wardrobes because they have a minimal style that would benefit from an Oliver Charles sweater.
I enjoyed the weight of the sweater because I tend to be hot and sweat, but I had no issues with this sweater because I paired it with shorts and open-toed shoes or jeans on cooler days.
The material is soft and gets even softer after washing. Wearing the same sweater for 7 days really showed me what can happen if you have less in your closet.
I was able to create outfits that I was comfortable and confident in using one sweater.
It allowed me to be creative and come up with outfits I wouldn’t usually wear.
I’m thankful I was able to do the 1-Week Sweater Challenge because it opened my eyes, and I can’t wait to keep styling my sweater for days to come!
