This sweater is the most interesting piece of clothing I have ever purchased. The softness and comfort surprised me. I run on the hot side and the temperature of this sweater was perfect, I didn't need additional warmth in late winter under a jacket. I am used to wearing lots of layers. I also really appreciate the neutral colors the focus on sustainability and slow fashion. I hope this company thrives and is around for a long time.

This seaweed sweater is magical! I am allergic to wool so it's hard to find a nice comfy sweater and this one came to the rescue. The unisex sizing actually worked perfectly for me because I'm tall (5'8") -- the arms and body on the size S were both actually long on me (which I liked!) and I wore the sweater with leggings and boots all the time. It's black and versatile and I love that you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion. The sweater is definitely thin but kept me warm in the Monterey winter, often as a layer under my micropuff jacket. The lack of bulk was nice for outdoor activities from tidepooling to hiking and prepping dive gear. I would (and did!) recommend one of these seaweed sweaters to all of my friends and any outdoor adventurers with sustainability in mind. Plus it's an awesome conversation starter to say your sweater is made of seaweed :)

Mainly I was concerned about the durability of the sweater. I was worried that I would have to baby it and not wear it where it might get stained or torn such as when working on our property. I was also scared it would develop a hole near the waist where clothing rubs against my countertops or jeans waistband. I've only had it 2-3 weeks so it hasn't shown any signs of wear and tear. When it warms up Ill be able to test it under more conditions. I've already washed it twice and it came out fine. It has a very pleasant scent. Because it is seamless it fits well in the shoulders and there is much less chance of a hole developing at friction points. It looks the same inside and out (except for the 2 tags). I love the fit of the neck and the knitting designs around the neckline and cuffs and down the sleeves. I would recommend this sweater to friends/family members who aren't overly thrifty. People who are still working who need good, professional work clothes and who are open to trying new fibers. I love my sweater and I'll order another one. I'm looking forward to seeing what new styles and colors Oliver Charles will offer.

NO seams means it stays in place and doesn’t twist around and shift when I move around so I Never new to adjust out back into place. That right there is Amazing! I would have chosen a V neck, if that option was available. I usually find that more flattering. However I Am pleaded with this crew neck design. It fits comfortably on my collarbone, not tightly around my neck and I don’t need to loosen it up so I don’t feel like I’m choking nor does it ride up onto my neck so I’m not needing to pull it back down into place.
It’s Soft & comfy from the moment I put it on. Not scratchy at all. I don’t need to think about it, it’s not distracting. Having worn it All Day for 3 days in a row as I begin the summer SeaCell Sweater Challenge, I have Not felt like I wanted to change clothes later in the day. Or Finally take it off in the evening. I wear from rising in the morn till bedtime at night. It transitions comfortably from desk work to bike ride to cleaning house to walking the dog to flexibility stretching or lounging in the hammock. No need to change clothes for different activities.
I’ve worn it with leggings, jeans and a skirt. It’s still down in the 40s evenings & mornings so I haven’t worn it with shorts but I certainly would. I’ve worn necklaces, bandanas & a scarf. Flip flops, flats, boots, sneakers and heels, hats & a bike helmet. It switches from at home alone to an evening concert & can be dressed up or down. The soft blue grey color works as a neutral so I can wear it with other neutrals like black jeans, bright leggings or a patterned skirt.
I like the whole Oliver Charles approach to clothing. The made to order rather than stockpile supply. 360 knitting with no seams so no scratching or twisting around on my body. Organic cotton and sustainable manufacturing appeal to me. The SeaCell yarn is essential to me in a sweater because wool bothers my skin. I’m a Red haired blue eyed, freckle faced 65 year old with sensitive skin. Wool sweaters bug me all over and often give me a rash The seaweed and cotton yarn sounded intriguing. It feels Great. I Love the idea of exploring new materials that are environmentally friendly. Your lifetime guarantee is Amazing! And offer to repair or mend ad needed is outstanding, though I suspect unsustainable and probably rarely taken up on.
I’ve drifted toward the idea of a ‘personal uniform’ for years. However black and navy are too intense for me and I like bright colors. This soft blue grey is wonderful. It can be a neutral and go with anything I own. While I would not normally wear the exact same item for seven days in a row, as I’m committed to doing for this challenge, I do repeat items frequently and mix and match interchangeably all the time. So the flexibility of the soft neutral color gives me plenty of options to pair the sweater with just about anything I own. Plus the blue grey goes well with my blue grey eyes!
What Else can I say about this wonderfully soft, comfort, versatile, unique SeaCell sweater? My friends love it and are curious and interested. I’m glad I took the risk and plan on completing the Challenge so that I can get my $ back. I’d love to have a V neck in a brighter color like coral, turquoise or sage green and a darker color of some style, in soft brown or a richer blue, but at $150, that won’t happen. So I plan on enjoying This one for the rest of my life!

Made From Seaweed
Towering underwater like redwoods, seaweed grows vastly without exhausting arable land and fresh water. The material from these marine plants is ecologically sustainable and 50% more breathable than cotton.
It’s arguably the most sustainable material on Earth and It has a unique combo of the best properties: lush as silk, soft as Pima cotton, and strong as polyester.
The seaweed used to make SeaCell is farmed from Icelandic fjords, where there is no pollution and waste from ship traffic. Local Icelandic sea farmers gently harvest the abundant seaweed beds once every 4 years using large floating conveyor belts that remove only the very tops of the plants and do not cast nets that capture faunae.
The harvesting process ensures that each bed can naturally regenerate without disrupting the ecosystem. Solely trimming the upper portion of the marine plant also encourages healthy growth, like cutting the split ends of our hair.

Made For Adventure
The perfect adventure companion. Not because it's 50% more breathable than cotton with 50+ UPF UV protection... or because it's arguably the world's most sustainable material, producing 0 waste.
No, the real reason it's the perfect material for our summer sweaters is because of the stories we'll tell while wearing them... the stories we'll remember for the rest of our lives, all witnessed by our favorite summer sweaters.
Hopefully, in 50 years (yes, they will last that long), we'll be watching the sunset on a coastal bluff with our summer sweaters and be reminded of the countless weekend trips we had.

SeaCell, What's So Special About It?
Ideal for sensitive skin and hot summer months because it's soft, light, and breathable.

Soft
Gentle and lush on even the most sensitive skin.

Breathable
Keeps you cool on even the hottest summer days.

Sustainable
Completely biodegradable and recycles 99% of all waste.

Durable
Stronger and more durable than both cotton and linen.

Moisture-Wicking
SeaCell remains 85% dry in wet conditions.

Machine Washable
Doesn't shrink, wrinkle, or need dry cleaning.

Celebrate The Freeing #Repeat Movement
The idea that when we find outfits we love, we wear them over and over again isn’t a revelation. In fact, there’s a term for it called your “personal uniform”, which has been reported on by publications such as Thrive Global, Vox, Calm Clinic, and CNBC.

We'll make sure to find it another home or make sure it is naturally returned to the earth. As each sweater is biodegradable, although designed to last a lifetime.
SeaCell fibers are smooth, unlike wool. The silky fibers don't irritate sensitive skin. SeaCell is efficient at moving sweat and moisture away from your body, discouraging bacteria growth that causes skin irritation.
Organic cotton is also very soft when compared to other natural materials. The fibers are very fine, ranging between 11 and 22 microns. For reference, Yak wool ranges from 14-19 microns.
Our materials, SeaCell and organic cotton, are both remarkably sustainable. We can replace plastic-based synthetic fibers with these materials; together, they are soft, abundant, and strong.
Unlike plastic polyester, SeaCell and organic cotton are made from regenerative resources and 100% biodegradable.
In addition to using 91% less water than conventionally-grown cotton, organic cotton requires 62% less energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 42%.
Further, the lack of pesticides decreases waterway pollution by 26% and the chances of acid rain by 70%.
The seaweed used to make SeaCell is a strain found in the Icelandic fjords and northern Atlantic.
Harvesting in the Icelandic fjords means there is no pollution and waste from ship traffic, so the seaweed is extremely clean and without pollutants.
Local Icelandic sea farmers gently harvest the abundant seaweed beds once every 4 years using large floating conveyor belts that remove the tops of the plants.
The harvesting process ensures that each bed can naturally regenerate without disrupting the ecosystem. Solely trimming the upper portion of the marine plant also encourages healthy growth, like cutting the split ends of our hair.
Once cut in Iceland, it’s transported to manufacturing facilities in Austria. The seaweed is entirely untreated, retaining all its natural properties.
Our sweaters are made in Brooklyn, New York by Tailored Industry. We work with them to create our sweaters through a new manufacturing process called WHOLEGARMENT® 3D-knitting.
We chose Tailored Industry vs. other WHOLEGARMENT® manufacturers in part because of their brand vision. They want to become a platform for on-demand knitwear. We're hoping we can grow together, create all kinds of custom sizes, and eventually remove the need for inventory completely.
No! In fact, you can probably skip the spa after wearing a SeaCell summer sweater because the natural vitamins and minerals of the seaweed will soothe and protect you from harmful free radicals and damaging UV rays.
Yes! Simply machine wash your sweater with the rest of your clothes. It will not shrink on a normal cycle.

This is the second Summer Sweater that I’ve purchased since January. This is in poppy — it’s a nice pastel that actually goes with a gorgeous silk scarf that I’ve not worn before. I wear these as a base layer, and love the fiber feel against my skin.

I love everything about this sweater. I’m wearing it to church today after running errands and visiting friends in a care center the first day and baking bread the second day. I’m really happy with the fit and don’t think it needs a lot of accessorizing. I’m especially drawn to its promise as a forever part of my (hopefully) pared-down wardrobe.

Soft, warm, cool, the all-purpose sweater! I layered it over a wool tee shirt and it was SO cozy; I can't wait to wear it in warm weather to see how it feels...

I love that it’s made from sustainable fibers of seaweed. It’s so soft. Very versatile can dress it up with a scarf or wear it to bed with pjs. I needed to size down though on the unisex fit.
