Limited Edition: Big Sur
We chose Big Sur as our muse for the limited edition because we've fallen in love with the California coastline's blue bird days, sand dollar beaches, and blooming hillsides.Order Now
Big Sur has always been in our backyard! We've spent every weekend possible exploring the incredible California coastline. But the exploring didn't stop at the coastline; it extended deep into the cold, unforgiving great white shark-infested waters.
We'd spend all day swimming and snorkeling through the seaweed forests there.
The more time we spent underwater, the more we learned to appreciate the lack of control over the environment around us.
In a way, our appreciation for that force of nature is a core philosophy behind The Big Sur; so much of life is out of control, but one thing we can control is what we choose to wear. Thus, the things we choose to wear should be able to withstand the ever-present, uncontrollable waves of life.

Oliver Charles In The Wild
I am a knitter and crocheter, so I'm familiar with many types of sweater construction and yarn types. However, as stylish and cute as my own knits are, most sweaters are only suited for one type of weather, they get too hot and not breathable enough, or too loose in stitch that a bit of wind make it too cold, or too tight or too loose for layering, or the neckline or cuff might let too much or too little heat in.
Living in Southern California, I wanted a lightweight sweater for summer evenings and spring/autumn days that that layers well, not too breezy, not too stuffy, and doesn't burn when the sun is out. I'm happy to find that the summer sweater is the solution to all of the above! When I first learned of Oliver Charles, I was instantly intrigued by the summer sweater's novel seaweed material. I'm Asian and we eat a lot of seaweed in our culture, and I've been pleased to learn that many people in the food industry in the west are now turning to seaweed as a sustainable, nutritious food source in recent years.
In terms of fabric comfort, the summer sweater is a win for me. If you are wondering how warm this sweater really is, well, it's warmer than my athletic leggings and cooler than my thick cotton leggings... In terms of design, I found the summer sweater to be truly unisex and well fitted with no tightness or loose fabric anywhere, except for the cuffs which are clearly knitted with smaller needles than the body. I would have preferred a looser cuff.
For a standardized size, the fit is remarkably true to size. However, the sweater is 3D machine knit to order, so what's stopping the company from offering more customizable measurement options in the future? My engineering mind is already envisioning a future where the customer can enter their specific measurements for multiple body dimensions on the sales page of the website, and maybe there can be choices of oversized or skin tight fits, neckline styles, sleeve lengths, cuff tightness, etc, and the company works be able to use an algorithm to generate the unique knitting pattern for the machine to produce truly bespoke wearers.
I would recommend this weather to anyone who loves comfort and sustainability. Anyone who has busy lives and don't want to think about what you're wearing all the time. Put this sweater on and you won't regret it. It really kinda feels like a second skin, and it matches literally everything. As for me, I will probably be giving this sweater to my mom when I see her next. Trust me, that's a compliment for the sweater.

I love the story behind the material and way the sweater is made. It's comfortable and gentle to touch.

I was looking for a more slim fit yet not tight sweater and this is exactly it. Super lightweight, too, so it’s great for moderate weather and for layering when colder. I teeter between XS and S in tops and went with a XS purely because I wanted it to sit at high hip. Definitely happy with my choice but also think S would have been great too! Just depends your length preference.

Yeah summer sweater! This piece is light yet sturdy, easy to dress up or down, and warm enough to be a useful layer while being breezy enough for warmer weather. In hot areas like I’m in, it’s perfect for transitional seasons between cooler and warmer weather when you need a lil something extra for mornings and evenings. It worked equally well with distressed jean shorts and with a nice skirt for a golf club- love the versatility! The blue color is cooling too, and easy on the eyes.
It’s typically hard to find a piece that feels lightweight but not flimsy, and the Summer Sweater hits the mark. I did enjoy being able to throw it on over my summer dresses and tanks, but I really loved wearing it on its own. The breeziness factor was really apparent when worn solo. It seemed to simply disappear onto my body (similar to the original khullu sweater.) No fussing, just easy to wear pieces are my go-tos.
My mom loved mine so much, she immediately grabbed one of her own for her minimal travel capsule wardrobe! I’m so impressed with my OC sweaters’ effortless ability to swing both casual and put-together. Such a win for a capsule.
I have the light and dark colors, and theyve been the perfect building blocks. They are not only made of a very sustainable material, but they are also classic and easy to style in endless ways. I've been creating tons of outfits with them that fit any occasion I need, whether that's a night out in Chicago or a laid-back bonfire with my friends.
Wore my light blue sweater to Angel Island. It was well into the 80s and the sweater was light and cool. As the day went on, we found a picnic table amongst the trees, drank ice-cold beers, and listened to sweet tunes.
I’m really stoked about this material. The sweater is really light, which will be awesome for layering and the warmer days. Plus it's soft and comfortable. It totally bypasses that first period of wearing wool and getting cozy. It also checks off all my boxes in terms of sustainable sourcing.
Nothing is better than getting a package in the mail; it feels like Christmas every time. I always know when my Oliver Charles sweater arrives because of the unique paper tube package.
The best thing about the sweater is that it's lightweight and perfect for transitioning into fall and winter. It is also incredibly soft and gentle for sensitive skin.
Bought it small intentionally because of unisex size, and I wanted a slimmer fit. Nice and thin for layering and light for when it get hot.
