So versatile

Wearing this soft, comfortable sweater for 7 days straight turned out to be really easy, in fact, I wore it for 8. The light greenish blue went with a number of blouses and cardigans I already had. I like a layered look and this crew neck was a perfect underlayer, and when inside where it was warm, it looked good by itself.

I like to travel, and this sweater will definitely be going with me as it is so versatile.

I think a Medium would have been a good fit for me, but I tend to like looser clothing, so the Large works well.

I have not had to wash it yet, so I can’t speak to how that goes. So far, I have no negative criticisms or suggestions for improving what is a fine summer sweater. The only suggestion would be to offer some other colors. It is probably not economically possible, but natural dyes would be fantastic. Red onionskins, California Poppy root…

Work toward be ing able to incorporate a greater percentage of kelp in the yarn…but maybe that would not produce the strongest, softest fiber…you have probably played around with that already.

Thanks for the fun of the challenge and the chance to meet others in your community.

Now I have five of them

I have often made the mistake of buying cheap clothing because sometimes my money is tight. I know in theory that I should buy better quality because it will last longer, but I rarely invest in more expensive clothes. This time was different. I bought one crewneck seaweed sweater because I was intrigued (darker gray). I waited until I had worn it for a while and washed it once. It was great, so I bought two more (black and natural brown). Some money came in and I again bought two more (light gray and off-white). Now I have five of them. (Am I obsessive? Maybe.)

Living in Southern California, I like wearing layers. It can be warm in the daytime and cold at night. These sweaters work perfectly with a undershirt and a t-shirt below and a hoodie or jacket on top. The neutral colors can go with so many other things in my closet.

I have been wearing the two gray sweaters the most, and one nice surprise is that they don't attract cat hair. I have two cats. Their shedding makes it hard to wear certain clothes, but these two sweaters passed the test. I am not sure if the black or the off-white one will show cat hair more, but I already know that this material is not a big fur collector. Seamlessness is also a great benefit.

Well, to sum it up, I am sold on the idea of buying higher quality clothing and I look forward to your new designs. I will need to buy a hoodie (or five).

Like the color

I have worn with jeans, like the color, was tight at first as advertised and then loosened. The neck is tighter than I like. I like to try new things.

This sweater breathes so well and it's very comfortable and versatile

I originally came across Oliver Charles when looking for a capsule travel wardrobe for an upcoming trip to Scotland and Ireland. The summer sweater seemed like a versatile choice. When my seaweed sweater arrived, it wasn’t as soft to the touch as I had expected. This was especially worrisome because my skin is quite sensitive. I was happily surprised when I wore the sweater; scratchiness never crossed my mind. It was so comfortable. I love the color (heathered brown) and the versatility. I can dress it up or down, wear it in the mountains, or to a show. After six days, it still looks brand new and smells as clean as its first day. The choice of a summer lightweight sweater was easy for me because I run very warm. Even in the winter, I’m unlikely to choose a sweater, but this sweater is different. It breathes so well, I am always comfortable. My original travel sweater has become a staple and the beginning of a plan for more enduring and sustainable clothing.

The SeaCell fabric kept me comfy and cozy

Last week was made more enjoyable by wearing my new sweater. I started with a ten-hour Monday in the workplace sitting behind the computer. I was a little bit warmer than I would have been wearing my usual cotton collared button-down shirt. I decided the sweater had a wholesome, good quality feel to it. Day two was telework from home. Unlike other sweaters that might add bulk to my frame, this was a tight-knit, sleeve like shirt that I almost forgot I had on. Day three was more telework and a 5:30 PM indie film showing at the downtown cinema. The SeaCell fabric kept me comfy and cozy while sitting there idle and engrossed for almost two hours. Day four was telework from home again. Day five was telework and then a member's only reception for a new exhibit at the downtown museum. I combined the sweater with with walnut chinos and brown shoes for a casual dress outfit. Things went well and I did not overheat once combined with the crowd. Day six was running errands in the afternoon wearing the sweater with blue jeans. I felt comfortable transitioning from the art house to the restaurant to the supermarket and then back home. I concluded the seven-day challenge with a day hike on the Appalachian Trail to a rocky outcropping the Native Americans used in times past. It was cloudy, 45° and I found that the sweater kept me warm as I moved at a brisk pace. It was an appropriate option for the outdoors as the heather blended with the natural surroundings and also my brown corduroy pants. I'm glad that I did the challenge and also that I received kudos via the Oliver Charles Facebook group.
