By biggest frustration was not with the sweater, but with my weather. It got up to 106 degrees while doing the challenge. I would have liked a short sleeve V or scoop neck in the Seacell for the ridiculously hot weather. I would also like more cool, saturated colors: royal blue, purple, Barbie pink - I am a winter in coloring and these are my neutrals :). I was concerned, as a plus size woman, that the 2x wouldn’t fit me properly, but the size was excellent. Also, as a knitter I was a little concerned about stability and drape without seams, as seamless knitting can bias. However, the 3d knitting seems to have avoided the bias issue. I am very conscious of what I wear and consume and I tend to buy basics then accessorize with home crafted and a few fast fashion items. OC sweaters (yes, when my budget allows there will be more than 1), will be joining my core wardrobe. As to who I would recommend an OC sweater to - pretty much everyone. My mom (who almost stole my current OC), is already angling for a SeaCell cardigan for Hanukkah this year. I would also recommend them to my kids and friends. All in all, a winner for me!

This is a lovely and soft sweater with incredible versatility. I wore it so many ways and dresses up or down so nicely. I was concerned about sizing, but went with my gut and chose the smaller size and it was perfect. I am working on minimizing the number of clothing items in my closet and this will help. This sweater is perfect for anyone on-the-go with a variety of different activities and temperatures.

I put the sweater through a pretty vigorous test. In the approximate two weeks that I’ve had it, I have helped adult kids move, biked, hiked, worked, gardened, held my first grandbaby, and done lots of daily activities in it. The temps in MN have ranged from 60-85 while I’ve worn it.
The very first day wearing it, I managed a small snag right in the front with a ring I’ve been meaning to get to the jeweler. I pushed the thread in through the sweater and it is basically invisible. When the panic subsided, I managed to reach into a cabinet and get a grease stain on it. It also sustained chocolate ice cream drips and plant stains from picking tomatoes. You can imagine, I was sure this sweater wasn’t going to make the cut. Yesterday, I did use a bit of stain remover, tossed it in the wash and this morning, all the stains lifted - I put on a necklace and wore it to church!
When I first got it, it fit perfectly. This surprised me, because I had to exchange a small for a medium - which is the size of an all season sweater that my husband wears that’s a bit big for me. But the small was simply too form fitting. Over the time that I wore the Scoop, it relaxed a bit and does fit more like the medium all season…a tad on the big side for me, but not so big that it’s not the right size. When I washed it, it did return closer to its original shape. This should not deter anyone from a purchase, but I think it’s important to know so you don’t return a well fitted sweater. It has some give, but does not strike me as stretched out.
The temperature range was comfortable - but I’m guessing it would not be comfortable alone (for me - Minnesotan) less than 45 degrees. I would say 85 was pushing the comfort level on the top end. So the Summer Sweater is well named. With a light jacket or a shirt underneath, it would stretch that range considerably.
Overall, if you are looking for a sustainable organic sweater option, or if you are toying with the idea of a capsule wardrobe, the Summer Scoop Neck Sweater is a solid choice.

I recommend this sweater to everyone! I put it through rigorous active testing: rock climbing, rowing, chopping wood, weight lifting, hiking…. and it really did not get stinky or stretch out of shape. Feels great.
Size Ordered: S | Typical Size: S | Fit: Perfect
I was hoping that I would be able to pair the sweater with lots of existing items in my wardrobe for my Alaska trip - and I did! I brought both the summer scoopneck and my all season cardigan with me and wore them both a lot. I was surprised at how both delicate and sturdy the summer sweater was and I like that the fit relaxed the more I wore it. The scoop is more of a gentle V which I really like, and it’s not too low. Next we go to the Outer Banks for 2 weeks in August and I’m really interested to see how it does in the humidity!
Size Ordered: XXL | Typical Size: XXL | Fit: Perfect
I like wearing simple outfits that are easy to move in. The scoop was perfectly light and hardly felt like I was wearing it at all. The scoop neck is great because I love layering necklaces, especially with sweater and jean outfits. Also, wearing my scoop neck over a dress is a perfect way to make more outfits out of them

My overall impression is how comfortable the summer scoop neck sweater is. It's knit with super, slightly fuzzy, fine yarn, which makes it incredibly light weight. When I put it on, I feel like I'm like being gently caressed by a downy feather!
The first picture is a comparison between my all season and my new summer sweater. You can see how thin the summer sweater really is. I'm really impressed that a sweater this thin can feel so durable. The image below on the left shows the sweater's garter stitch pattern magnified 20 times. The one on the right is at a magnification of 100x. One strand of yarn is about a quarter of a millimeter in diameter and slightly fuzzy. (The photos were taken using my husband's scientific microscope.)
The sweater works equally well both when there's air conditioning, and when there's not. The scoop neck design also makes the sweater extremely versatile. With a drawer full of brightly colored t shifts, its one sweater and a different look every day!

It breathes like it’s alive. Keeps me at just the right temperature. Stylish but understated. The grey is a natural grey, flattering and not cold looking. The subtle linear knit is modern and stretches in the right places without bagging. I am so impressed with the sweater and have received many compliments- when I let people touch it and ask what they think it’s made of, they have all said some kind of cashmere- and are so intrigued when I tell them it’s seacell or seaweed. I’ve sent the website to everyone!

Fit perfectly although for me I like a slightly more feminine shape that goes a tiny bit narrower at the waist. Love the feel of the cloth. I don't like the tag so i’ll need to remove it. I just got back from Iceland and I love how it’s made partly from Icelandic seaweed!

SeaCell fibers are smooth, unlike wool. The silky fibers don't irritate sensitive skin. SeaCell is efficient at moving sweat and moisture away from your body, discouraging bacteria growth that causes skin irritation.
Organic cotton is also very soft when compared to other natural materials. The fibers are very fine, ranging between 11 and 22 microns. For reference, Yak wool ranges from 14-19 microns.
Our materials, SeaCell and organic cotton, are both remarkably sustainable. We can replace plastic-based synthetic fibers with these materials; together, they are soft, abundant, and strong.
Unlike plastic polyester, SeaCell and organic cotton are made from regenerative resources and 100% biodegradable.
In addition to using 91% less water than conventionally-grown cotton, organic cotton requires 62% less energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 42%.
Further, the lack of pesticides decreases waterway pollution by 26% and the chances of acid rain by 70%.
The seaweed used to make SeaCell is a strain found in the Icelandic fjords and northern Atlantic.
Harvesting in the Icelandic fjords means there is no pollution and waste from ship traffic, so the seaweed is extremely clean and without pollutants.
Local Icelandic sea farmers gently harvest the abundant seaweed beds once every 4 years using large floating conveyor belts that remove the tops of the plants.
The harvesting process ensures that each bed can naturally regenerate without disrupting the ecosystem. Solely trimming the upper portion of the marine plant also encourages healthy growth, like cutting the split ends of our hair.
Once cut in Iceland, it’s transported to manufacturing facilities in Austria. The seaweed is entirely untreated, retaining all its natural properties.
Our sweaters are made in Brooklyn, New York by Tailored Industry. We work with them to create our sweaters through a new manufacturing process called WHOLEGARMENT® 3D-knitting.
We chose Tailored Industry vs. other WHOLEGARMENT® manufacturers in part because of their brand vision. They want to become a platform for on-demand knitwear. We're hoping we can grow together, create all kinds of custom sizes, and eventually remove the need for inventory completely.
No! In fact, you can probably skip the spa after wearing a SeaCell summer sweater because the natural vitamins and minerals of the seaweed will soothe and protect you from harmful free radicals and damaging UV rays.
Yes! Simply machine wash your sweater with the rest of your clothes. It will not shrink on a normal cycle.
