The sound of the river lifted me from my sleep. Twilight shadowed the trail, and I could only see the faintest outline of La Plata's peak. I was climbing a mountain today and up for the challenge.
Running through my mental checklist...
✔ Water. Check.
✔ Snacks. Check.
✔ Jorts. Check.
✔ New SeaCell Socks. Check.
That last one was the reason for this hike. Slater and I created our first SeaCell Summer Socks, and I was going to be putting these puppies to the test.
Would my dogs be barking when I got home later today, or would I be walking on air up and down this 14,000 ft peak?
Socks on, I set out. The day was bound to be a beautiful adventure.

First Light And The Perfect Morning for a Gear Test
We got an early start and were the first to hit the trail. The sun peaked over the ridge and lit up the valley.
Glistening streams snaked a path to our right and spruce trees stood tall, the ancient guardians pointing up towards the peak we’d ascend.

Why Hiking Socks Are More Important Than Boots
I crossed over chasms high and rivers full. My trusty steed was my 10-year-old pair of snow clogs.
Mounted inside were my soft, breathable, lightweight socks. I knew the trail was about to get steep, but I had no fear for my feet.

How My SeaCell Socks Handled Steep Terrain
And up we went. Zig-zagging along switchbacks that hugged the shade. Over the first ridge, I took in the view, proudly peering down from where we came. Peering up, miles still lay ahead.

So Comfortable I Almost Forgot I Was Testing Them
The trail was lit up by brilliant wildflowers. Wanderlust filled my heart as I hiked alongside metamorphic rocks protruding from grass beds.
Walking on clouds I nearly forgot about the reason I was up here. Luckily I snapped back to reality and stopped for a sock selfie.

Are SeaCell Socks Worth It? 14,360 ft and 0 Blisters
Ground was covered! Before I could say Lightweight SeaCell Socks, I reached the summit and raised a toast.
At 14,360 feet up, the dogs were barking; at least one dog, a cute border collie named Jenny.
My feet, on the other hand, felt secure, dry, blister-free, and ready for the journey down.

My New Go-To Socks for Any Adventure
The journey back is a reminder of both where you've been and who you've become. Hard to forget where I’ve been. Beautiful! So I guess I just need to figure out who I’ve become. That’s easy. I’ve become a big fan of my new socks!
