Two thumbs up for cozy versatility! I intended to pack this sweater as my only warm piece of clothing (aside from a rain jacket) for my family’s trip to Olympic NP and Victoria, BC. I was a little nervous relying on it solely, so at the last minute I shoved a hooded sweatshirt in the last available space of my pack. I’m happy to report after the seven day challenge, that sweatshirt has never been unpacked…in fact I moved it to the bottom of my bag because it was just taking up space. This sweater is very true to size. I have a long torso and long arms so usually have to size up for length and I’m very happy with the length of both with this sweater. At the end of 7 days of wearing the sweater nearly all day each day, it looks brand new, isn’t stretched out, and smells the same as it did when I took it out of the box—and I wore it during some hot days. There’s a small amount of pilling under the arms, but not noticeable at all. In fact I think the coloring of the sweater hides the pills… I love the versatility of the color (undyed) and am super happy with my purchase and couldn’t recommend this sweater enough to others who are looking to minimize their wardrobe/travel packing list, who are active and want a versatile piece, and/or folks who want a quality garment that is comfortable and will last.
I posted that review on the website. But I forgot to mention that I love that the tags are sewn on all sides. This helps me resist the urge to rip it out and I didn’t even notice the side tag was there until day 5 of wearing. Super awesome for folks who have sensory issues and hate tags!
When I get home I’m going to clean out my sweater bin of all the poorly made merino sweaters that I have and might wear once or twice a year. I can’t wait to see how this sweater withstands a cold northwest winter!

Invested in the OC all season sweater to upgrade a 14 y/old Possum Merino sweater. Was not disappointed as it performed well against the old sweater in many aspects. The most useful and suprising was the washabilty of it. I would not put Possum Merino through a regular machine wash any day. Like cashmere, the regular wash cycle would be too harsh on the Possum fibre. After two weeks of wearing the OC sweater, decided to follow the washing instructions and put it throught the machine with the rest of my clothes on a regular cycle. Came out looking perfect (dried quickly too) and smelling new. Big thumbs up. It wasn't as warm as the Possum Merino at rest but the durability outweighed that feature as it breathed far more than the Possum Merino when active. I would say the Possum Merino makes a better blanket insulator, but the OC sweater made a better sweater, especially with the seamless 3D knit. One gripe. Possum Merino does not pill, or at least is really resistant to it. The OC sweater, like with most wool sweaters, pilled like the rest after a day or so of wear. Not a big thing, especially when you choose a colour that hides it really well but it makes wearing it to work a little less enticing if you want to look neat. Both my old Possum Merino and the new OC all season sweater are amazing fibres, and both have already made a positive change to how I wear clothes. I hope the OC sweater can last as long as my Possum Merino. Would recommend the sweater to any one who seeks the outdoors, who is active, and who wanted to invest in a piece of quality clothing.

My introduction to the Oliver Charles company began when, in a rare instance of "Okay, I'll bite," I clicked on an ad about some sort of marvelous sweater, sustainability, fiber from seaweed, yak hair, and a challenge to reduce the material (literally) goods housed within one's closet. That intrigued me to dig a little deeper into the company and by the time I finished reading I ordered a sweater. I wanted to support a company that was using innovative technology and natural fibers, and using closed-loop production to reduce waste. And, I really liked their promotion of buying quality over quantity- - reducing the number of clothes items owned in favor of wearing quality items more often. Therefore, when I got the opportunity to participate in the All Season Sweater challenge, it was not difficult to accept!
With the exception of one extremely hot day, I wore my sweater each day for a full week. I biked in it, went for long walks in it, wore it boating while crabbing, slept overnight in it (on the boat), wore it to work, and wore it out to dinner. It is absolutely the most comfortable item of clothing I now have. Despite the amount of use I put it through, and at temperatures between 50 to 75+ degrees F, I never felt the need to wash it the entire week. It did not retain odor and kept its form beautifully the entire time.
Wearing the sweater daily was effortless because it felt great and looked great- in fact, I actually welcomed not having to figure out what to wear each day. The impact of this for me was that by the end of the week I realized I had a desire to cull my clothes. It's not that I have a lot of clothing items- just a small closet and two bureaus -but even so, I reduced my clothes inventory by a third simply by removing all items of clothing that had been worn five times or less in the past year.
I have already recommended the Oliver Charles sweater to several of my friends and know that at least one has already put in an order as a result. I will continue to recommend these sweaters and talk about what this company is trying to do. Thank you Oliver Charles for the challenge- it has reminded me of how truly few material things we actually need to feel satisfied.

This is my 2nd All season sweater and I love it! The fit is super comfortable with sleeves that are long enough for my long arms. The sleeves are so awesome that they stay put when I move around! I got the undyed color and it is the perfect neutral to match absolutely EVERY THING!!!
I have worn my sweater with jeans, with leggings, out hiking canyons, and out to dinner. I can't wait to wear it with shorts!!
The best part, though, is how Oliver Charles let's me feel good about the quality, sourcing, and making of this sweater. I'm striving for a more sustainable closet and a wardrobe I can travel with. The only warm layer I brought on a recent trip is this sweater and it took me to all the places to do all the things !
The all season sweater is more than all season, it's all purpose!

Great fit, wearing with brown jeans, blue jeans are good, too. It’s a good neutral (undyed) color. I’m challenging myself to wearing my OC sweaters every day for 100 days. Started March 16. Three days with all seasons and 22 days wearing summer sweater. I’m a big fan of the Oliver Charles ethic—sustainability, classic style and no waste.

When I love a piece of clothing I really LOVE it and wish I could clone it. Alas, I was really hoping I would receive my all-season sweater BEFORE my trip to an artist residency, but regardless the sweater did great post-trip in my everyday life. I expected to get more sick of the sweater, but the color was versatile in my existing wardrobe and the weight was perfect. I do think anyone would benefit from having this in their core wardrobe especially if you travel and need something very adaptable.

I love this all season sweater! I decided to take the 7 day challenge to get closer to a capsule, more minimal, wardrobe. I really want to travel as lightly as possible and be able to pack and go on a moments notice. And at the same time, I want to reduce my impact on mama earth. I admit the sizing had me concerned and kept me from ordering for a few weeks! And what color to choose?? Black is my go to. But the light grey is so beautiful. I went with the grey but was really worried about eating and spilling on myself, lol! I went with the medium and it was a nice fit; closer fitting than I would normally go with but a nice fit for sure. Being closer fitting made this sweater really useful with things both under and over it. I felt like my normal casual self but elevated. I did have a huge self realization that I am most comfortable and confident in my oversized tops, though.
After wearing my all season sweater for the 7 days, I can easily see wearing it to travel and packing WAY less. It is so easy to wear with all the things in all the settings in all the climates! And I'll be wearing it outside of travel too--it just goes with everything. I'm so excited to have less stuff, less clutter, and to not think so much about what to wear every day. I can grab this sweater, any bottoms, and go! Being aware of wearing the sweater on repeat made me slow down so as not to spill on it; that was a huge unexpected benefit! Slow down and enjoy, appreciate, experience! And not washing the sweater very often is going to save me so much time and the earth so much impact!
If you are looking for a key piece to mix with anything else you wear, if you want a single sweater to build your wardrobe around, if you want a quality piece made from quality materials, if you want to live more sustainably, if you want to lighten your load, if you want to simplify, this is the sweater for you! Any of the Oliver Charles sweaters will fit the bill! Be kind to yourself and mama earth and try a sweater!

I had no preconceived notions about what to expect with my sweater. The week-long challenge was easy to complete because I fell in love with so many qualities of the sweater. I loved that is was so lightweight. The size S was just right and fitted me closely without ever feeling restrictive. In fact, compared to other winter tops that I have worn that have been a combination of polyester or wool and lycra or spandex, the knitting in the sweater gave me the bits of stretch when and where I needed. it. It was almost like wearing nothing at all, except that its softness constantly reminded me of how comfy I was. (By choice, my under layer was always a short-sleeved lightweight merino t-shirt so I could enjoy the fuzzy experience on my arms.) The all season warmth was just right for inside the house and for under a winter jacket outside in a late Montana winter/spring transition. I intend to make this one of my go-to outfits.

I think originally I was a little skeptical that the material wouldn’t smell after the seven days. I am thoroughly impressed by that factor. I typically have body odor, especially when I’m sweaty or hot and I have to say the sweater held up extremely well and there was no stink even when I put my nose directly in the armpit area after seven days (gross yes I know, but I wanted to know!).
I was very positively surprised by the cuffs. I tend to roll up my sleeves frequently and even when I did several times, the cuffs went right back into place and were nice and snug. I didn’t expect that. I fully expected them to stretch out as all my other long sleeve sweaters/shirts do, so I was very happily surprised there! I didn’t have any expectations, but I was happily surprised that it kept my nice and toasty warm in the cook NY weather with only a sweater. Originally from California, I tend to run cold so this was a very welcome surprise not to have to bundle up like a crazy person. The other thing that I love is that the sweater fit my torso. My torso is on the longer side (I am 5’5 and my husband is 5’9, but while sitting down I am “taller” than him) so this was a welcome surprise and I didn’t feel like I had to continually pull down my sweater.
I will definitely recommend to all our school friends. We attend a Waldorf school, so most of our classes are outside. This is a perfect addition to a Waldorf wardrobe with its natural fibers and neutral colors. If you had kids sizes you would for sure sell out just from our NY Waldorf school alone! Waldorf parents spend thousands of dollars on natural, warm sustainable clothing and I would be happy to recommend your brand!

I love my all-season yak sweater! It's super soft, comfortable, breathable, & warm. The 3-D knitting means no seams in the way, & the slightly unusual knit (purl) pattern makes it unique. I'm used to wearing wool sweaters every day, so that part wasn't a surprise, but this is by far the nicest one I have, & is now my go-to sweater. I love the "emerald blue" color, which is really a base color for me, & pairs perfectly with all kinds of soft, ocean blues & greens as well as jeans & neutrals. I'm inspired to pare down my closet full of thrift-shop wool sweaters that aren't quite right in favor of this one!

One of the most important factors that affects the way wool feels is the fiber fineness. Thinner diameter fiber is softer. While a human hair has a average diameter of 75 microns (µm), the merino and yak wool (AKA "khullu") we use in our sweaters is ultra-fine at 17.5µm.
Wools that are generally considered "soft" have a fineness <20µm. Although, at the end of the day, you know best, so try new materials at different levels of fineness and decide what you like wearing most. If you find a wool sweater you love but find slightly itchy, note that fine wools, like merino and khullu, get softer with washing.
Wicking is an important benefit of wool, because in order to regulate body temperature, humans can sweat several liters a day. All this sweat can get pretty smelly right? In fact, sweat only becomes odor if it isn't wicked away. Wool has a number of unique moisture management properties that allow it to resist body odor making it ideal for #repeat wear and simplifying your life.
1) Saturation regain: wool can absorb and retain up to 35% of its own weight in moisture and still feel dry to the touch, which reduces sweat buildup and discourages bacterial growth.
2) Isolation of bacteria: after sweat is absorbed from the skin's surface it travels outwards where it evaporates. In the process, wool actively binds and isolates bacteria within it's fiber. The isolation of bacteria reduces odor to the point where unwashed wool has 66% less odor intensity than plastic-based fibers and 28% less than cotton fabrics (Woolmark).
Fun fact: bacteria thrive in humid environments, where sweat is trapped instead of being wicked away. For example, while a 1x1cm area on a human forearm contains around 100 bacteria, an identical square in the armpit contains on average 10 million bacteria (Popular Science).
We make our sweaters from yak down, which is the hair they shed naturally in the spring, all the herders do to collect it is simply brush the animals. Merino sheep on the other hand are unable to shed their coat so it is sheared.
Our sweaters are made in Brooklyn, New York by Tailored Industry. We work with them to create our sweaters through a new manufacturing process called WHOLEGARMENT® 3D-knitting.
We chose Tailored Industry vs. other WHOLEGARMENT® manufacturers in part because of their brand vision. They want to become a platform for on-demand knitwear. We're hoping we can grow together, create all kinds of custom sizes, and eventually remove the need for inventory completely.
Pilling is the natural process that occurs when the shorter natural wool fibers work their way to the surface of a sweater.
Pilling is normal and expected with any wool piece of clothing, but fear not because there is a tried and true method to manage pilling.
The first thing you should do is wash your sweater after the first 4 wears. Throw your sweater in the wash with a pair of jeans, just make sure to close the zippers.
Over time, shorter fibers causing pilling will pull away on their own.
Yes! Simply machine wash your sweater with the rest of your clothes. Lay it flat to dry.
