It's March 3rd, 2021.

Good morning to those of you living in Intercorse, Pennsylvania. Today, Intercourse will be hotter than yesterday, but just as dry. You can expect a high of 54 with lots of sun and westerly winds blowing at 10 to 15 mph.

Last week's newsletter had a 52% open rate, a whopping 17% shy of our goal. The most loved meme was about an air fryer.

The week's top stories involve weed, an unlikely partnership, and a riddle, enjoy!

  • Seth Rogan loves weed
  • Long time rivals come together

Seth Rogan launches a weed company!

What can't Seth do? Seth is an incredibly accomplished actor. His films have grossed more than $7 billion worldwide. He's an incredibly accomplished philanthropist. He's raised more than $13 million for Alzheimer's and provided 300,000 hours of support. He's an incredibly accomplished stoner, claiming to have smoked an "ungodly" amount of weed. Now he's on track to become an incredibly accomplished entrepreneur with his new weed company house plant. He claims he's been working on the company for the last 10 years and is finally ready to launch, saying it's his life's work. One may have thought his life's work would be his charity work... but weed is cool too.

Johnson & Johnson and Merck partner up

This is a historic partnership that'll help get every US adult vaccinated by May, a month earlier than previously promised. Besides the increased vaccine production, this is historic because J&J and Merck fucking hate each other. The two pharma companies have been fierce rivals for decades. A partnership of this magnitude hasn't happened since WWII.

It's been nearly a year since the first lockdown

It's been nearly a year since the very first stay-at-home orders were issued in California. The last twelve months have been a doozy, to say the least. It feels like it was just yesterday that the Murder Hornets were invading the West Coast.

The minimum wage will not be raised... Yet.

The last time the federal government raised the minimum wage was in 2009 when it was raised a whopping 70 cents to $7.25/hour. From 2009 to today, the cost of living has increased approximately 20%, and the cost of housing has increased 30%. Raising the minimum is widely popular among Americans, with 67% of people supporting a $15/minimum wage.

The general argument against raising the minimum wage is that it's bad for business. In practice, the opposite is true. Paying workers more provides stability, which increases productivity, decreases turnover, and improves happiness. Henry Ford, who famously paid his workers double the average salary, said it was the best cost-cutting move he ever made. Not to mention it gives people more money to buy your product... or sweaters.
