It's February 10th, 2021.

For those of you living in Howard Lake, Minnesota, it's bitterly cold and partly cloudy. You can expect a high of 6 with WNW winds blowing at 5 to 10 mph. No rain means it'll be a dry hump day.

If you were expecting the first issue last Sunday, we really appreciate you reading our newsletter and are sorry to keep you waiting. Going forward, you can expect The Morning Brown every Wednesday morning.

This is the first issue, so I'll dive right in. The big stories this week are:

  • Jeff Bezos is stepping down
  • GME bag holders
  • An investment of $1.5B into Bitcoin
  • The Super Bowl
  • A public service announcement

Jeff Bezos steps down as CEO to pursue "passions"...

Shortly after announcing Amazon's first $100B quarter, Amazon's fabled leader said he is stepping down to focus on things like the Day 1 Fund, the Bezos Earth Fund, Blue Origin, The Washington Post, and other passions.

We are all thinking the same thing. What are his other passions? Hopefully, one of them involves wearing a sweater made from yak wool.

28% of Americans bought GameStop or other viral stocks in January...

So-called meme stocks like GameStop and AMC were up nearly 5,000% a couple of weeks ago as retail investors poured into them to squeeze out short-sellers. The rise of these stocks went way beyond the money. Yes, fortunes were made and lost, but the real story is about how this untied a fractured country. It was a real-life David v Goliath moment, the kind of moment America really needs. The grand irony is that unification was against an app called Robinhood because it kept people from taking from the rich and giving to the poor.

Even AOC & Don Jr. joined forces >>

That's how much bitcoin (roughly) the car company Tesla now owns. That number also happens to equal the number of times a Tesla owner will tell you about their Tesla. All jokes aside, this is a big moment for the cryptocurrency, and the news caused the price to jump roughly 18%.

In other words, if you used bitcoin to buy a model X last week, you would have paid ~$15k more than someone that used cold hard cash.

Tom Brady won his 7th Super Bowl!

Yes, Tom Brady won another Super Bowl. His seventh, to be exact. He won it after moving from the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A team that pre-Tom Brady was terrible. The Bucs 2019 record was 7-9, one of the worst in the entire league. Then Brady shows up and takes the team to the Super Bowl against the defending champs, no less. Hard to argue that he isn't the GOAT...

Not to mention he's 43 >>
